Dan Truman Sullivan was born and raised in McKinney, Texas by his father, James Alvan Sullivan and his mother Mae Ida Hancock. He graduated from Searles High School in Great Barrington MA, in the class of 1952. After high school, Dan joined the Marines and served for 4 years. Dan then attended and graduated from the University of Texas in 1960, and was a proud Longhorn from then on. After graduating from college, Dan started working in the hospital association as a CPA, where he worked for several different hospitals. He then was a consultant for six years before retiring in 2005.

Dan met his wife Sandra Sullivan in 1990 in Denver, Colorado. They were together for 22 years. Dan then took in all of her family as his own. He then became a father of not only his natural 6 and 1 adopted, but his 6 step children as well. He then became a grandfather to many children and a great grandfather to countless. He also considered his animals to be his “children.” He was a proud owner to several cats, Great Danes, Chocolate Labs, goats, and horses. When he passed, Dan owned two goats, two cats, and his cockapoo, Shadow.
Dan grew up loving basketball, and football. He played basketball in high school and football as well. He also ran track in high school. When he got older, Dan learned his love of bowling and joined several leagues. He taught many of his grandchildren in Colorado the basics of basketball and went bowling with his friends and family outside of his bowling leagues quite often. His love for watching the sports never faded. He watched both college and professional basketball and football, and his favorite teams were the Denver Nuggets, the Denver Broncos, and the University of Texas Longhorns.

Dan was preceded in death by his parents James Alvan Sullivan and Mae Ida Hancock he was also preceded by his siblings Sybil Irene, Bobby Lee, Roy Howard, Mildred Lucille, Paul Norman and Mary Ella. He was also preceded in his death by his grandson Austin Bartlett.

Dan is survived by his wife Sandi Sullivan and his siblings Louie David and Barbara Helen. He is also survived by his children Scott Sullivan, Randall Sullivan, Diane Bartlett, Sheryl “Boo” Sullivan, Michael Sullivan, Christopher Sullivan, and Laura Sullivan-Day. He is also survived by his step children Carmen Olson, Stephen Miller, Doug Campbell, and Crystal Wuelzer, Melanie Dobson, and Mark Dobson. He is survived through numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren as well.

There will be a private memorial service for Dan on Saturday September 27, 2014 at Sullivan Acres.

    What a fascinating man in so many respects. I worked for him in the 1970’s while in Houston. He will be missed. I am certain he will get Heaven straightened out and making a profit.
