Garry I feel so lucky to have met you let alone to have had 32 years to hang with you. You were not only a great father in law but a great teacher all those times my truck broke down and I laid in your garage with you right by my side. You were also a great friend even when you talked me into going up that ditch road at Empire and my axle soon disappeared into the sand. All the times at the lake, camping and those great bbq’s. We’ll try to keep the fires burning down here though the flame will be a little less bright. I’ll look for you again some day, keep the music going.Love ya man. Jim

One of the greatest men who ever lived. Always believed in me even when he knew I was wrong, drove me to the hospital when I was a young girl in labor..he wouldn’t stop speeding lol and then he stood in the room behibd the curtain and heard her first cry…helped me out of bad situations, helped me move dozens of times, broke our cat out of the bathroom haha..,lent me money and a shoukder to cry on…rushed to help me anytime I needed him. Always had a dollar for the kids and insisted on buying us lunch- even in these dark days when he is too weak to talk- he is always sure we are fed…made me laugh so hard, knew how to party better than anyone, never missed a performance for any one of us grand kids or my kids and always took 10,000 pictures…this man is so much of my heart. He’s so near to paradise and I know he has an extra special place prepared for a man who loved and laughed and lived with more passion than I could ever try to match .

I think of you as the life of the party; someone who always thought the glass was half full and a truly kind soul who looked for the best in everyone. You set a standard for all of us to follow – thank you. Will miss you and remember you always.

I only knew him for a short while but during that time it was clear to see that he was a man who put his family first and someone we could all strive to be like. My thoughts and prayers go out to the family of this great man.

My uncle Garry was such a fun loving man, a hard worker who adored his wife, children and grandchildren. He always had a smile and an energy to brighten any room- the kind of exuberance that only a genuine heart can have. I will miss seeing him, but know that his memory isn’t something that fades away, it’s just an example of how life should be. Work hard, love even more, smile a lot and maybe dace a little along the way!

My Grandfather was a man who never took a day for granted. He loved life and his family more than most. He was the first person to offer a helping hand or a kind smile to brighten your day. I remember his laugh and his grin when he was ready to let loose and have a good time. People who met him would tell me how lucky I was to have such a fun-loving, caring Grandfather. He was the life of every party, event and camping trip. We made so many memories together that I will hold near and dear to my heart. He loved his family and was the care taker for everyone. He never let a single birthday or holiday go by without sending a card with a hand written note inside (usually one that would make you grin from ear to ear.) Grandpa you left a lasting impression on everyone that was fortunate enough to know you. Your zest for life, compassion and optimism are just a few things I admired most about you. I will miss you dearly. Until I see you again, keep the party going up there and don’t forget to save me a dance. With all my love- Your Granddaughter -Britty

The loss of a father is life altering. He was here the day you arrived. We always felt safe when he was with us. He supported us, comforted us, protected and encouraged us. I don’t think we can find better example of a father than Gary Dunkin.

Gary was one of the most kind hearted man I know, and I was proud to call him my uncle. He lived for his family and was full of life. When you were with him it just made you light up inside, because he always had a smile on his face. He never said an unkind word about anyone, and I will always remember his laughter. He will be missed beyond words, but will forever live in our hearts!! I love you Uncle Gary from your niece Kathy Jo

Garry was one the most generous, giving, thoughtful and self-sacrificing people that I have ever met. I am very blessed and grateful to have known him, and will remember him fondly for the rest of my life. If we could all be more like Garry, the world would be a much better place…and it would be a lot more fun-loving! To everyone in the family – remember the good times and take comfort in knowing how much he absolutely lived for and LOVED his family every single day. He was a good man. We will miss him everyday.
