Gary Sober

Born:
February 27, 1949 :: Grand Junction, CO
Passed Away:
May 20, 2008 :: Wheat Ridge, CO

Gary (Stretch) passed away on May 20, 2008 in the Collier Hospice Center in Wheatridge, CO. Gary has fought a long fight with cancer and after the last
and most aggressive treatments, he received about four weeks ago, the cancer spread quickly and Gary lost this battle to this terrible disease. This fight was lost only two days short of the day his mother passed with cancer exactly 25 years ago.

Gary R. Sober was born on February 27, 1949 in Grand Junction, CO to Clara and Judson Sober. Gary went to various schools around the Denver area and joined the Navy in February 1970. Gary spent two years in the Navy and then went on to do odd jobs around Colorado, Nebraska, and Wyoming. After a long time, Gary came back to the Denver area and has worked as a maintenance person in the transportation industry.

Gary had several friends that he worked with over the years. He was the type of individual that would get in his car and drive several hundred miles to see a cousin or other relative that may not have been seen or heard from for several years. Gary was always the one to bring the family members back together. He will be deeply missed by all of us.

Gary is survived by four brothers, Lawrence Sober of Craig, CO; Donald Sober of Arvada, CO; Ronald Sober of Thornton, CO; and Richard Sober of Richland, WA.

In lieu of flowers, please remember Gary’s gentle spirit by donating to the Collier Hospice Center in Wheatridge, CO.
